            The following Ordinance was offered by Mrs.  Ezernack                  who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Ms.  Woods                   :

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND AMENDING THE ZONING MAP FOR THE CITY OF MONROE, LOUISIANA

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Monroe has held its Public Hearing with respect to the following proposed Zoning Map Amendment, to-wit:

An amendment to the Zoning Map to rezone a ±47 acre tract of land from the B-3, General Commercial/Business District to the B-4, Heavy Commercial District, presently located in Ouachita Parish and more particularly described as follows:

Lamy Lane                                        1400, 1406, 1500, 1502, 1504, 1600, 1700, 1900, 1912

            APPLICANT: City of Monroe (MA 101-19)

WHEREAS, the City Council has further considered the report of the Monroe Planning Commission recommending approval, on a 4-0-1 vote.  The property is presently zoned B-3, General Commercial/Business. There are a number of structures in this targeted area that have either been built for warehouse/storage use or have been used as such. The Planning and Zoning Division office has been getting calls regarding using structures in this area for warehouse/storage use. The B-4, Heavy Commercial District zoning classification would be a more appropriate zoning classification for the proposed use of the existing buildings and still allow existing uses.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana in legal session convened that the Zoning Map of the City of Monroe be amended to zone a ±47 acre tract of land, previously described and the boundaries thereof which map is described in Section 37-34 of the City of Monroe Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance and which map shown the Zoning Districts and Boundaries thereof, be and the same are hereby amended to B-4, Heavy Commercial District , as shown on the map which is attached hereto and made a part thereof and which is adopted as the new Zoning Map of the City of Monroe.

            This ordinance was INTRODUCED on the 22nd of January 2019.

NOTICE PUBLISHED on the  25th, 28th & 30th      day of  January           , 2019.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced and published was then submitted to a final vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

AYES:            Echols, Ezernack, Woods, Wilson & Clark

NAYS:            None.

ABSENT:       None.

And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  12th     day of  February        ,

2019.
