EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

STATE OF LOUISIANA

CITY OF MONROE                                                                        NO.  11,941               

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mrs.  Ezernack                   who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Ms.  Woods                            :

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE REPAIR OF ROTARY SCREEN #2 AT THE WPCC AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

            WHEREAS, Rotary Screen #2 on the headworks at the WPCC has recently become inoperable and immediate repair is necessary; and

            WHEREAS, the repair of Rotary Screen #2 is an emergency as the loss has reduced WPCC’s’ treatment capacity by 50%. The repairs must begin immediately to minimize damage to downstream processes; and

            WHEREAS, the repairs are estimated to be $114,458 and funds are available through the WPCC’s Repairs and Maintenance account.

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of the Rotary Screen #2 at the WPCC is hereby declared an emergency.

            BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such an emergency repair of the Rotary Screen #2 is necessary to the WPCC and is hereby authorized and approved and the Mayor of the City of Monroe is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

            AYES:            Echols, Ezernack, Woods & Wilson

            NAYS:            None.

            ABSENT:      Clark

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  9th    day of July 2019.
