EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

STATE OF LOUISIANA

CITY OF MONROE                                                                        NO.  11,904               

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mrs.  Ezernack                       who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Ms.  Woods                   :

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE CONDITION OF THE PUMP AT THE HAWES STREET PUMP STATION AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

            WHEREAS, the pump at the Hawes Street Pump Station failed and immediate replacement is necessary; and

            WHEREAS, ordering a replacement pump is an emergency as the Ouachita River flood gates are closed which could result in flooding without the use of the electric pump.  Hawes Street Pump Station services the area of south Monroe around South Grand and Pargoud; and

            WHEREAS, funds are available through the Storm Water Repairs and Maintenance account.

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of the pump at the Hawes Street Pump Station is hereby declared an emergency

            BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such an emergency replacement of the pump is necessary to the Hawes Street Pump Station and is hereby authorized and approved and the Mayor of the City of Monroe is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows

            AYES:            Echols, Ezernack, Woods & Wilson

            NAYS:           None.

            ABSENT:      Clark

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  26th     day of December 2018.
