The Water Distribution Division is responsible for the supervision of all work performed by contractors and/or city employees as it relates to the water distribution system which consist of water main repairs, the extension of existing water mains, construction of new water mains, replacement of water mains, maintenance of customers’ service lines which includes the installation of new taps, service line, meter boxes and meters, the replacement of existing service lines, meter boxes and meter. Other services include turning water off and on for customer repairs, removing and/or resetting meters for the Utilities Division, relocating meters, raising or lowering meter boxes, raising or lowering valve boxes, checking water pressure and dirty water complaints, checking and repairing meter leaks, replacing or repairing fire hydrants, repairing or replacing valves at meter broken by customers and/or city employees, locating water mains for the Street Improvement Division and Louisiana One Call, repairing water leaks on City of Monroe properties, reviewing and approving plans for water main improvements, conducting flow tests for new developments, witnessing pressure test of new mains, having bacteria samples performed on new mains, and keeping the maps of the system updated.
