Mission Statement:

• The Street Division is responsible for providing the repair of over 327 miles of streets within the City Limits.
• Responsible for the repair of street cuts made by Sewer, Water, Sanitation, Street and Gas Companies.
• These Street Cuts are to be repaired with Asphalt or Concrete.
• Repair Cave-ins along and under streets, Sidewalks and Driveways caused by Sewer or Storm Drain leaks.
• Due to the types of equipment housed at the Street Department this division assist other division in their daily operations.

2010 Highlights:

• Constructed Police Memorial
• Replaced ninthteen hundred (1900) square feet of sidewalk around Vantage Building at Saint John and Desiard
• Replaced forty-eight (48) inch Culvert and Headwall at 901 McGee Street
• Constructed Two Pavilions at Forsythe Park Boat Dock
• Constructed Bike Rack and sidewalk at Forsythe Park and Forsythe Pro Shop
• Repaired twelve hundred (1200) square feet of Cart Path at Chennault Park Golf Course
• Replaced four hundred (400) square feet of sidewalk in the Garden District
• Repairs made to the Levees at Barbados and Forsythe Extension

2010 Challenges:

• To provide professional service requested by citizens of Monroe within this department.
• Also to secure funds to upgrade or replace worn out equipment.

2011 Goals:

• As Street Superintendent my staff and I will continue to serve the publics’ needs a timely and professional manner.
• Continue to upgrade the quality of work done by this department.
• Work towards establishing a better working relationship with the other departments.
• Strive for better performance and working conditions with the up-grade or replacement of worn equipment.
• To aid in advance training and work manship, in the use of material and equipment.
