On behalf of the men and women of the Monroe Police Department, I want to welcome you to our web page. We have created this web site as part of our continuing effort to serve our community.
Police officers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and our headquarters, located 700 Wood Street, is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our officers maintain around-the-clock service to the community through active patrol and community oriented policing. Our commitment to you is to preserve peace and public order, prevent and detect crime, apprehend offenders, and protect persons and property under the laws of the State of Louisiana and the ordinances of the City of Monroe.

The Citizens of Monroe are entitled to protection of life and property whether the threat is man-made or a natural disaster.
The Monroe Police Department is charged with the protection of life and property of persons residing within the city limits and with all law enforcement activities within the City, as well as, the exercising of police powers over any property owned or controlled by the City which may be located outside the city limits.
We must strive to prevent criminal activity in our City by patrolling the various police zones preserving the peace, investigating, arresting and incarcerating persons who commit criminal acts or breaches of the peace, and respond to request for services from citizens and visitors to our community.
We must expedite and promote the efficient flow of traffic, investigate accidents, and enforce traffic laws and ordinances.
We must provide support and technical services, record, keep and maintain various information systems, provide for inventory and budgetary controls, prepare and provide various reports to interested parties, recruit, train, organize, and equip our police officers, and coordinate our activities with other governmental agencies as well as the many and various groups within our community.
In order that we may carry out our assigned mission we are vested with certain legal authority. This legal authority allows us certain legal powers. In the exercise of these powers, justice and equality must be the actuating motives.
To achieve success, the Department must win and retain the confidence and respect of the citizens of this community. We can accomplish this only by a constant and earnest effort on the part of all our personnel to perform their duties in a fair, impartial, efficient, business like, and professional manner.
