As Beautification Coordinator, I humbly serve as a liaison between the Mayor and the community by assisting with community projects, presenting programs to schools, civic organizations and others, by responding to inquiries or complaints from members of the public, implementing and engaging in beautification efforts and Monroe Beautification Board activities.

Monroe, the city in which we live, work and play boasts a myriad of opportunities that we all can be a part of to make it even better! Each of us has an obligation to keep up and care for our environment. Through our everyday choices and actions we can have an abundant impact by making great improvements throughout our fine City! Each citizen can actively participate by daily incorporating acts of pride such as not littering, recycling and implementing basic improvements in and around your neighborhoods, schools and churches.

Why not start today by making sure (1) your yard is free of debris, (2) your lawns are mowed regularly and (3) plant easily maintained shrubs. Neighbors can join together and form street cleanups; volunteering to make a difference in your neighborhood will indeed boost the morale of your community. There are several activities that our Beautification Department can assist you with; Would you like to start a garden club in your neighborhood? Would you like to have a neighborhood cleanup day? Our office is available to assist you with many aspects of Beautification. We look forward to assisting you so that together we can all be Monroe Proud!

Tree topping is the drastic removal, or cutting back, of large branches in mature trees, leaving large, open wounds that subject the tree to disease and decay.
