Taxation & Revenue Division
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
The Tax and Revenue division serves as the central revenue collecting center for the City of Monroe. The division is located in the City Hall Annex and collects 86% of the General Fund Revenue. The division also collects sales taxes for the political subdivisions of Ouachita Parish. It has 19 employees that are organizationally divided into collections and assessments. The basic financial objectives of this divisions are as follows: (1) to provide the highest level of customer service to the citizens of Monroe & Ouachita Parish; (2) to collect all funds due; (3) to safeguard & timely receipt funds collected; and (4) to accurately distribute funds collected. The major receipts collected by the office are: Water, Sales Taxes, Occupational Licenses, and Property Taxes. The Office is also contracted as a collection center for BellSouth.
